Denver Estell Hegwood

Denver Estell Hegwood, age 89 of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013 in Gordon Hospital. Denver was born on September 22, 1924 in Gordon County to the late Rev. John Harvey Nix and Bertie Cooper Nix. She attended Erwin Hill Church of God, and her family and church were her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rayford Nix, Charles Nix, and Jay Nix; and two sisters, Jean Darnell and Ann Prater. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ralph Roland Hegwood of Calhoun; one son, Terry Hegwood and his wife Jill of Calhoun; one daughter, Gail Farriba and her husband Kenneth; one sister, Pat Burger and her husband Clarence of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Cliff Farriba, Grant Hegwood, Tiffany Vowell, and Patrick Cannon; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, December 28th at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend James Shope and Joe Farriba officiating. Jeff Rogers will have charge of music. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Gary Darnell, Barry Nix, Keith Thomas, Barry Hegwood, Ray Nix, and Jerry Hall. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 27th from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Thomas Funeral Home.
