Dennis Wesley Neal

Dennis Wesley Neal, Sr., age 70 of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 in Redmond Regional Medical Center. Dennis was born on January 5, 1943 in Akron, Ohio to Donald H. Neal and Frances Ellen Neal. He was a member of the St. Clements Catholic Church and has been a resident of Gordon county since 1978.Dennis was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Moose Lodge. He loved to work with the Special Olympics and enjoyed being outdoors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, John Eric Neal, II and brother, Richard Neal. Survivors include: his wife, Joanne Schlitt Neal of Calhoun; two sons, Dennis “Skip” Neal and his wife Danielle of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and John Eric Neal of Akron, OH; two daughters, Michelle Marie Haught and her husband Jerry of Dalton, and Alyssha Dawn Broyles and her husband Ronnie of Calhoun; one brother, Donald C. Neal of Barberton, OH; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive. A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Monday, August 26th at 10am from the St. Clements Catholic Church with Father Joe Shaute officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30pm in the GA National Cemetery with military honors in Canton, GA. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-8 pm and on Sunday from 2-5 pm.
