Dena Zell Prather

Thursday, September 09, 2010 Mrs. Dena Zell Hood Prather age 89 of Fairmount Hwy, Calhoun, Ga. died September 8th. in Gordon Health Care following several months of declining health. Mrs. Prather was born in Ranger, Ga. on April 23, 1921 wife of the late L.A. "Ted " Prather and daughter of the late Jessie J. Hood and Mahala Ballew Hood and had spent her entire life in Gordon County. She was a member of the Farmville United Methodist Church and a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter; Jerelle Prather Moore and three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include two daughters; Letha P. Beason and her husband William of Calhoun and Maribeth P. Owens and her husband Tom of Calhoun. One brother Billy Hood and wife Joyce of Ranger. Seven grandchildren; Keith Beason, Kelly B. King, Kellin Beason, Debbie Owens Farist, Connie Owens Ross, Stacy Moore, and Chad Moore. 10 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday September 10 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev Guy Kent officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include; Randall Mulkey, Jimmy, Kenneth, Buck, Gary, and Jerry Prather. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:00 PM Friday September 10th. Laura Dutton will be in charge of the music. Family will receive friends Friday September 10th from the 11:00 to 1:00 PM preceding the funeral.
