Deborah Jean "Debbie" Cochran

On December 6th, 2013, Deborah Jean “Debbie” Cochran, finished her course, kept the faith, and fought the good fight as she was ushered into Glory by the angels. Debbie was born July 23, 1951, in Gordon County, daughter of Wynelle Bagwell Hensley and the late Lewis Hensley. She was a graduate of Boyce Bible College in Louisville, KY., and was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. Debbie was formerly employed by the Calhoun First National Bank and as a pastor’s wife was very active in the church, teaching Sunday School and directing children’s music programs. She loved all outdoor sports but especially loved playing in the church softball league. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Rev. Jether Cochran, one son, Matthew Cochran and his wife Brittany of Adairsville, daughter, Amy Frasier and her husband John of Athens, Alabama. Three sisters, Pipa DeFoor and her husband Kelly, Angie Wright and her husband Steve, and Wanda Gilbert and her husband Mike all of Calhoun. Sisters and Brothers in law, Brenda Guy and her husband Billy of Adairsville, Wayne Rakestraw and his wife Georgia of Adairsville, Bill Cochran and his wife Shirley of Dallas, Georgia. Three grandchildren, Benjamin Frasier of Athens, Alabama, Hannah Jean Frasier of Athens, Alabama, and Cade Cochran of Adairsville. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday December 8th at 2pm from the Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jether Cochran, Rev. Greg Free, Rev. John Frasier, and Rev. Darin Cochran officiating. The Cochran family will have charge of the music and burial will follow in the Hayes Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include: Billy Guy, Wayne Rakestraw, Robbie Carlton, Kendall Cochran, Doug Thomason, Kelly Defoor, Mike Gilbert, and Steve Wright. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 8pm at the Thomas Funeral Home. II Timothy 4: 7-8 “ I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there was laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them that love His appearing.” Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral services for Deborah Jean “Debbie” Cochran.
