David Rickett

David Clyde Rickett, age 81 of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, April 5th at his residence.

 

David was born on January 17, 1942, in Dekalb County, Georgia, to the late Clyde Monroe Rickett and Bessie Mae Shaw Rickett. He was a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Reeves Trucking and prior to his retirement was employed by XPress Global Systems. David loved gardening and watching Gunsmoke. He was a loving husband, father, and devoted grandfather.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Johnson and her husband Bill; Annette Jones and her husband Richard; brother, James Rickett;  mother-in-law, Jeanette West.

 

Survivors include his wife, Joan West Rickett, children, Dana Ponder Real and her husband Grant Real, Angela Rickett Brady Pack and her husband Richard Pack, Rebecca Rickett Mathis and her husband Chad Mathis; step-son, Wesley Kerce and his wife Jennifer Kerce; two brothers, Ralph Rickett and his wife Susan Rickett, Franklin Rickett and Penny Rickett; grandchildren, Anna Real Carson, Olivia Real, Grace Mathis, Halie Mathis, Crosley Brady, Reagan Kerce; father-in-law, Arnton West; brother-in-law, Gary West; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 10th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Jether Cochran and Reverend Clyde McEntyre officiating. Music will be provided by Amy Rickett.  Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers serving include Richard Pack, Wesley Kerce, Chad Mathis, Nathan Rickett, Kevin Rickett, and Jamey Rickett.

 

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 10th beginning at 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
