David Eugene Walraven, age 79, of Plainville, passed away Monday evening March 6th at his residence.
David was born in Bartow County on January 25, 1944, son of the late Rev. Wallace E. Walraven, Sr. and Barbara Byars Walraven. He had been a faithful member of the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy for more than 50 years. He was a avid hunter who loved the outdoors but his heart belonged to his family, especially his grandchildren who he loved to play with.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas E. Walraven and three sisters, Elizabeth Walraven, Audrey Walraven and Ann Howard.
He is survived by his wife of more than 58 years, Delores Edwards Walraven; one son, Bryan Walraven and his wife Bernadette; one daughter, Cindy Walraven; two brothers, Michael Walraven and his wife Debbie and Wallace E. Walraven Jr. and his wife Donna; three sisters, Nancy Cornwell and her husband Jerry, Sue Thomas and her husband Ronnie, and Elaine Holt and her husband Rick. Four grandchildren, Kayleigh Wynn and her husband Matt, Derek Bridges and his wife Ashley, David J. Walraven and Dorothy Evans; five great-grandchildren, Madison Bridges, Liam Evans, Reese Wynn, Cole Bridges, and Noah Wynn also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday March 9th at 2pm from the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Ronald Chandler and Rev. Jerry Gaddis officiating. Burial will follow in the Floyd Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers serving include Nelson Smith, Derek Bridges, Tim Hightower, Matt Wynn, David J. Walraven, and Bryan Walraven.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon after 4pm at the funeral home and on Thursday from 1pm until the funeral hour at the church.
