David Anthony, age 58 of Calhoun died October 31 in Floyd Medical Center following several months of illness.
David was born, March 19, 1956, son of the late James Anthony and Edna Mae Couch Anthony. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ola Crump Couch, and made his home in Gordon County since age 4. He was a longtime employee of Gordon Hospital with 40 years of service, and specialized as a nuclear radiologist and C.A.T. scan technologist. He served one enlistment in the U.S. Army.
David was a member of the Oothcalooga Masonic Lodge 154, Free and Accepted Masons, a Sir Knight of Saint John’s Commandery, No.19 Knights’ Templar of Dalton; a member of the Amaranth of Georgia, Resaca Court 29; and the Eastern Star. He was a military Ham Radio Operator, a loyal friend, wise, and kind man. He was a member and attendant of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Plainville.
David is survived by his wife, Julia Lowery Anthony; daughter, Laura Sims; father in law, Richard Lowery; step grandchildren, Ayden Bell and Landon Bell, several cousins who are members of the Sewell and Couch families; special friends, Brenda Williams, David Willis, and Frank Nealey all of Gordon County.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Monday, November 3 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Keith Davis, Keith Reid, and David Ray officiating; Michael Lowery will have charge of music. Honorary pallbearers are members of Oothcalooga Masonic Lodge 154 and members of other Masonic bodies.
The family will visit with family and friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday and Monday at Thomas Funeral Home.
