Saturday, June 21, 2008 Mr. Daniel L. Tipton, age 71, of Calhoun, died Friday morning June 20th at his residence following several months of declining health. Daniel was born March 8, 1937 in Rock Island, IL.. Son of the late Daniel O. and Gertrude Budelier Tipton. He loved his children and grandchildren, the outdoors and working with his cattle. Daniel was a member of the St. Clements Catholic Church and a Honorary Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was employed for more than 30 years as a supervisor with J.I. Case before moving to Calhoun where he worked for O.M.C. for six years. He was preceded in death by his son Daniel C. “Danny” Tipton in 1993. Mr. Tipton is survived by his wife Mary Huerter Tipton. One son, Garry Tipton and his wife Lora of Tampa, FL.. One daughter, Renee Spars and her husband Bret of Marion, IA.. One brother, Dick Tipton and his wife Peg on Moline, IL.. Three sisters and their husbands, Mary and Bill Davis of Maxwell, IA., Pat and Dorrance Leonard of Rock Island, IL., and Bonnie and Larry Tjaden, Anomosa, IA.. One uncle, Norbert Budelier of Prescott, AZ. Four grandchildren, Kayla and Amanda Spars and Daniel and Tyler Tipton. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A Funeral Mass will be conducted Monday June 23rd at 10AM in St. Clements Catholic Church with Father Joseph Shaute officiating.A Prayer Service will be conducted Sunday evening at 7 PM from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Deacon Edward Stives officiating.
