Corey "Alex" Dobbs, age 15, of Calhoun. Died Tuesday August 31st at his residence. Alex was born March 29, 1995 in Austell, Georgia. Son of Serena Ann Manning Coats and the late Edward Larry Dobbs. He was a 10th grade student at Gordon Central High School where he had played football. Alex had many friends and was an excellent student. Besides his father he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hoyt Manning. Survivors include his mother, Serena Coats of Calhoun. Grandparents; Larry and Carol Dobbs of Lithia Springs, and Angela Manning of Jonesboro. One brother, Dillon Dobbs who is a senior at Gordon Central High School. A sister, Haley Dobbs who is a 9th grade student at Gordon Central. His Aunts, Lisa Stephens of Douglasville, Amanda Cooper and her husband William of Woodland, AL., Tamara Glisson of McDonough and Erica Manning of Jonesboro. A uncle, Eddie Manning and his wife Tammy of Villa Rica. Cousins; Sunnie McCulloch, Breonna Cooper and her husband Chase Cooper, Natalie Glisson, Austin Manning, and Macie McCulloch. Funeral services will be conducted Friday September 3rd at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Kelly Cohea officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers will include; William Cooper, Andrew Gribble, Andrew Shirley, Zach Kirby, Josh Ellis, Brandon Shirley, Garrett King, and Andy Desmond. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 8pm.
