Clyde Petty, age 95 of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 in Gordon Health Care.
Clyde was born on May 23, 1921 in Hornbeak, Tennessee to the late Edward Petty and Mamie Fields Petty. He was a member of the Calhoun First United Methodist Church. Clyde attended the University of Tennessee Junior College at Martin, Tennessee for two years, and graduated from Mississippi State with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was an avid University of Tennessee fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl Petty, Howard Petty, Carl Petty and Fred Petty.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise Ashburn Petty of Calhoun; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, December 10th at 11 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Eddie Herring officiating. Heart and Soul will have charge of music. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery in Whitwell, Tennessee at 3 PM (EST).
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4 PM until 6 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Calhoun First United Methodist Church at 205 East Line Street, Calhoun, GA 30701.
