Mrs. Claudie Foster Champion, age 79, formerly of Fairmount, Ga. died Wednesday April 4th.at Gordon Health Care following several months of declining health.
Mrs. Champion was born in Pickens County, Ga. on Feb. 17, 1928 daughter of the late Ernest and Fannie Dean Foster. She had been a lifelong resident of Gordon County, was a homemaker and was a member of the Pleasant Grove /Ryo Baptist Church since the age of 15 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband J.W. Champion Jr. in 1996, two sisters; Faye Jones and Tennie Long, and three brothers; Freddy Wayne Foster, Dub Foster and Charles Foster.
Survivors include one sister; Jane F. Woody of Calhoun, Nephews; Doug Woody, Randy Foster and Charles Foster, Jr., nieces; Celia Mullinax, Debra Brannon, Brenda Price and Kathy Shaw, one aunt; Sylvia Crider and several special cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2: 00 P.M. Thursday April 5th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Hand and Rev. Harold Owens officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include Jerry Price, Rodney Boston, Jeff Brannon, Doug Woody, Charles Foster Jr. and Randy Foster and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. today (Wednesday).
