Clarence Long, age 82, of Resaca, passed away Friday afternoon September 14th in Gordon Hospital.
Clarence was born October 2, 1935 in Gordon County. Son of the late Dock Long and Lucille McRae Long. He was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and was attending New Zion Baptist Church. Clarence was a veteran of the United States Army and prior to his retirement was employed at Mannington.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step-son, Andy DeSha; sisters, Selena Long, Inez Williams, Mildred Mulkey, Rossie Hall, and Wanda Turner; and two brothers, A.W. long and Johnny Long.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Causby Long, three sons; Henry long, Clayton Long, and Gary Long, two daughters; Shirley Baker and Bridgett Long, three step-daughters; Becky Cox and her husband Jason, Cindy Tumblin and her husband Marty and Anita Faisal and her husband Shah, two brothers; Buddy Long and Billy Long, three sisters; Mae Smith, Mary Sue Breeden and Betty Gillette. Several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday September 16th at 3pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Brady O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include; Chandler Cox, Jacob Cox, Garrett Tumblin, Will Tumblin, Abby DeSha, and Daniel Hawkins.
The Family will receive friends Sunday from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
