Clara Nix Woodring, age 94 of Calhoun, GA, passed away Monday morning, May 26, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Ms. Woodring was born August 3, 1919, in Paulding County, but had spent the
greater part of her life in Calhoun and Gordon County. She was the daughter of the late George W. Nix and Elizabeth (Bennett) Nix. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Charles E. Woodring and Lindsey "Buster" Woodring; one grandson, Michael "Smokey" Woodring; two sons-in- law, Lowell T. Pinion and Ted Bennett; two sisters, Nettie Green and Martha Jane Johnston; five brothers Willie Nix, James Nix, Raymond Nix, Junior Nix, and Leroy Green.
Ms. Woodring was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Until her retirement, she was
employed in the textile industry at Calhoun Spinning and Georgia Textile. She is survived by two daughters: Barbara Ann Pinion and Geraldine Bennett; eight grandchildren: Tony Pinion, Renee Brown, Jodi Barnes, Todd, Don and Brian Woodring, and Greg and Jason Bennett; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great grandsons and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 29th at 4:00pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Blackstock presiding. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
