Clara Josephine "Mama Joe" Gallman, age 93 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Gordon Health Care. Mama Joe was born on February 27, 1918 in Gordon County, daughter of the late John and Nettie Greene Howerton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Gallman; Six brothers, Cecil, Johnny, Walter, Oscar, Seaborn, and Talmadge Howerton; Two sisters, Beatrice Swafford and Doris Bagwell. She was a lifetime resident in Calhoun, a former employee of O'Jays, and a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church near Resaca. Survivors include; One daughter, Brenda Timms and her husband Eddie of Calhoun; two grandchildren, Nevin Pass and his wife Connie, and Jamie Pass; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Morgan Pass; nieces and nephews also survive. Services will be held at 3:00p.m. on Friday, November 11th from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home, with the Reverends Jimmie Timms and Calvin Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Reverend Jim Sailors with graveside rites. Pallbearers include; Sam Slaughter, Lee Roy Wilson, Tolbert Gallman, Freddie Craig, Chris Craig, and Terry Timms. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:45p.m. on Friday. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00p.m. Thursday, November 10th at the funeral home.
