Christoper "Chris" Abernathy

October 13, 2008 Christopher Mitchell “Chris” Abernathy, age 27 of Calhoun died Monday, October 13 in Macon Medical Center. Chris was born in Floyd County, January 13, 1981, son of the former Phyllis Goforth and the late Willis Mitchell Abernathy. His great grandparents, Willis and Bonnie Sutton and his grandparents, James and Bernice Abernathy and Martha Bradford and Ernest Goforth, also preceded him in death. He was formerly employed by Mohawk and was a Baptist. Chris is survived by his wife, Jessica Baxter Abernathy, mother and step-father, Phyllis and Larry Parris all of Calhoun; brother, Eric Abernathy of Adairsville; three sisters, Christy Cochran of Calhoun, Angela Cyphert of Cartersville, and Jennifer Sisson of Calhoun; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 17 at Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery of Bartow County. Pallbearers are Andy and Kevin Lambert, Adam Twilley, Scott Smith, Mark and Jeremy Miller.
