Charlie Joe Grooms,

Charlie “Joe” Grooms, Jr., age 52, of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday September 25th at his residence. Joe was born February 16, 1961 in Austell, Georgia, son of Emma Lee and the late Charlie Grooms, Sr.. He had lived here since 1969 and was employed by Colormaster’s. Survivors include his mother, Emma Lee Young and her husband James of Calhoun, one son, Eric Joe Grooms and his wife Tina of Calhoun, one daughter, Marlena Wilson and her husband Greg of Chatsworth, one brother, Kenneth Grooms and his wife Bonnie of Calhoun, three sisters, Rebecca Dean and her husband Jimmy of Resaca, Renee Holder and her husband Jimmy of Calhoun and Elaine Bunch of Dalton. Five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday September 28th at 1pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Fouts officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include, Jeff Jones, Jerry Shepherd, Nick DeFoor, Kevin Fuller, Michael Holder, Vic Caudle, Jason Morehead, and Jimmy Holder,Jr.. The family will receive friends Thursday and Friday evening from 5 until 8pm at the funeral home. Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Charlie “Joe” Grooms, Jr.
