Charlie Paul Childers

Saturday, November 11, 2006 Charlie P. Childers, age 85 of Ranger died at 9:15 PM. Friday. Charlie was born, October 10, 1921 in Pickens County, son of the late Dave Childers and Mary Elizabeth Morgan Childers. He was preceded in death by his wife Bessie, August 9, 2006 and the following brothers and sisters, Hilburn, Columbus, Robert, George, and Harvey Childers, Lillie Mathews and Stella Bryant. He and his wife and been residents of the Hightower Loop Community for many years. Charlie is survived by three sons and their wives, Dennis Paul and Brenda Childers of Ranger, Willard and Barbara Childers, Kenneth and Jane Childers of Calhoun; one brother, Reverend Wilburn Childers and one sister, Bonnie Cronon both of Fairmount; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 13 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Tim McCulley and Jeff Dutton officiating. Judith Arnold will have charge of music and burial will be in Haven of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are Keith Franklin, Adam Childers, Tony Coggins, Wendell Mathews, and Hugh Thomason. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:45 AM Monday. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
