Charles L. Wright, age 65 of the Plainville community died at 9:30 AM, Friday May 3 in the Landmark Hospital of Athens.
Charles was born, May 20, 1947, in Gordon County, son of the late Barney L. Wright and Minnie Sue Robbins Wright. Also, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny and Jimmy Wright, and two brothers in law, Don Dyer and Hollis Hightower. He lived most of his life in Gordon County, where he was a member of the Revealed Word Tabernacle. He was a Vietnam War veteran and had resided in the Georgia War Veterans Home near Milledgeville for about one year. As a result of his honorable service in the US Navy, he was awarded the following decorations, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Operations Insignia.
Charles is survived by one son, Tony Wright and his wife Casey of Cocoa, Florida; two daughters, Lynn Wright of Vail, Colorado and Lisa Wright of Dallas, Georgia; 3 sisters, Gladys Hightower and Aline Dyer both of Plainville; and Mary Ann Brooks of Fairmount; one grandson, Seth Wright; nieces and nephews, Amy, Andy, Ann, Ashley, Mike, Mitch, Mark, Matt, Tracee, Curtis, and Robbin; several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 5 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Dutch Scott officiating. Wayne Jackson and Sherri Wilson will have charge of music and burial will be in Franklin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be chosen from Charles’s family and friends.

The Wright family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2:00 PM at the funeral home preceding the service.
