Charles Roy Rickett

Charles Roy Rickett, age 87 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at his residence.

Charles was born on June 3, 1934 in Gordon County, GA, son of the late Lee Roy Rickett and Agnes Fox Rickett. In addition to his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lowery Garrett, Sarah Clark, Glenn Garrett, Stanley Garret, and Janice Bunch. He was a member of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church. Charles was a member of the forestry department, a pilot, and crop duster. He was previously employed at the Calhoun Times before becoming the owner and operator of The Calhoun News Dispatch.

Charles is survived by: his wife, Shirley Garrett Rickett of Calhoun, GA; one sister, Geneva R. Owens of Calhoun, GA; and three nephews, Thomas Owens, Stephen Owens, and Robert Owens.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Sampley officiating. Interment will follow in Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 12 PM until the funeral hour at 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
