Thursday, October 04, 2007 Mr. Charles Eugene Hyde, age 68 of Calhoun, formerly of Rome and Woodstock Ga., died Wednesday October 3rd. in Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hyde was born in Rome, Ga. on Feb. 15, 1939 son of the late Marvin D. and Geraldine Rogers Hyde. He lived in Marietta/Woodstock area for 38 years before moving to Calhoun. He was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church in Calhoun and has previously served in the Parking Ministry of the First Baptist Church of Woodstock for 15 years. Mr. Hyde served two years in the U.S. Army, and retired from the General Motors Lakewood Plant, in Atlanta. Survivors include his wife of 46 years Jackie Willis Hyde of Calhoun and formerly of Rome. One son and daughter-in-law; Col. Charles Kevin and Jodie Hyde of Springfield, Va., one daughter and son-in-law; Bill and Dawn Batchelor of Starkville, Ms. Six grandsons; Robert and George Hyde, David, Adam, Jacob and Sam Batchelor. Two brothers and sisters-in-law; Jimmy and Estelle Hyde of Rome and Robert and Ann Hyde of Cartersville. Nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday October 6th. from the Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. John Darnell, Rev. Jeff Hawkins and Dr. Johnny Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Floyd Memory Gardens in Rome. Pallbearers serving include Bernard Begeman, Jim Smith, Glynn Tindall, Atwood Cannon, Bob Nealey, Josh Bradfield, Matthew Hyde and Lyman Powell and they are asked to meet at the Church at 9:45 A.M. Saturday. Honorary pallbearers include Harold Curtis, Rick Davis, Steve Johnson and The Sportsman Sunday School Class @ Belmont Church and they are asked to meet at the Church at 10:45 A.M. Saturday. On Saturday the body will lie instate at the Church from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Linda Walters and Treva Sellers will have charge of the music. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. Friday evening. In addition to flowers the family requests donations be made to the Belmont Baptist Church Building Fund or the Interstitial Lung Disease Program at UAB Department of Medicine BDB 487, 1530 3rd.
