Charles Lex Floyd, age 87 of Adairsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 13th at Floyd Medical Center.
Lex was born on March 17, 1933 in Gordon County to the late Robert Ray Floyd, and Molly Scott Floyd. He was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and a Methodist. Lex was a retired Project Engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a Mason for the Plainville Lodge # 364 F&AM. In addition to his parents, Lex is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry M. Floyd; sisters, Hildreth Woods, Mildred Floyd, Clemmie Floyd Wright, Betty Floyd Byerley; brother-in-laws, Ellis Woods, Jack Wright, and Frank Byerley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jean Norris Floyd; sons, Chad Floyd and his wife Faye, Charles “Chuck” Floyd Jr.; daughters, Cindy Floyd Gossage, Christie Floyd Ellis and her husband Chris; grandchildren, Amber G. Lee, Joey T. Gossage, Nicole Floyd, Aaron Floyd, Colton Carroll, Derrika Johnson, Amanda Daniel, Jerry Floyd, and Heather Floyd; seventeen great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, January 15th at Franklin Cemetery at 2 PM with Reverend Dutch Scott officiating. Pallbearers serving are Danny Carroll, Brent Bennett, Dempsey Wright, Jim Treglown, Jarrod Daniel, Colton Carroll, Jerry Floyd, and Grant Collier.
Due to the ongoing national health crisis, face coverings must be properly worn by all those who plan to attend. Social distancing guidelines must be followed at all times while attending the service.
