Charles M. Dillard, age 70 of Calhoun, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Gordon Health Care. Charles was born on November 27, 1946 in Gordon County to the late Charles “CF” Foster Dillard and Winifred Hazel Moore. He was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church. Charles was an alumnus of Georgia State University with a degree in Accounting and Finance and a graduate of Calhoun High School class of 1964. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served in the Army for 3 years and was a Purple Heart recipient. After the Army he was a retired transportation logistics executive and a member of North Georgia Traffic Club. He is survived by his wife, Mary Dillard of Calhoun; a son, Chip Dillard and his wife Cristin of Troy, Alabama; brother, Bill Dillard and his wife Sandi of Calhoun; a nephew, Brandon Dillard and niece, Dr. LeAnn Dillard; in addition he is survived by two grandchildren, Emily and Thomas Dillard of Troy, Alabama. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn and Dr. John Barber officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brandon Dillard, Alex Williamson, Joe Charles, Matt Silvers, Jimmy Reese, and Brian Queen. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 3 PM to 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
