Dr. Charles Andrew Cornwell, age 68, of Calhoun. Died Thursday evening July 9th at his residence.
Dr. Cornwell was born in Gordon County, August 14, 1940. Son of the late Charlie Andrew and Pearl Frady Cornwell. He was a well-known and respected minister who had pastored many churches in North Georgia including Oostanaula Baptist Church, Meadowdale Baptist Church, Oakman Baptist Church, West Summerville Baptist Church, New Prospect Baptist Church of Rockmart, Center Point of LaFayette, He also Pastored Oak Grove Baptist Church in Adairsville were he is currently a member. His wife Sarah Holbert Cornwell preceded Dr. Cornwell in death in February 2005.
Survivors include, two sons, Kevin C. Cornwell and his wife Angie of Taylorsville and Chad B. Cornwell and his wife Lynn of Soddy Daisy, TN. Five grandchildren, Morgan, Drew, Falon, Brock, Piper Sarah Cornwell.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home at 2pm Monday July 13th. With Rev. James Braddy and Dr. Gary Paris officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Rev. Hoyt Lewis in charge of graveside rites.
Jimmy Dunaway,The Bruce King Family,and Morgan Cornwell accompanied by Wes Wood will provide music.
Pallbearers serving include; Donald Gravitt, Wyatt Wood, Cicero Holbert, Todd Holbert, Jerry Tallent, Ricky Stephens, Randy Gilbert, Dennis Ray and Shawn Chastain. Honorary Pallbearers, Bob Carter, Garson Cornwell, Scottie Cornwell, Fain King, Harold Burnette, Gary Garland, Fred Skillern, Reese Skillern, William Jones, and Reuben Lands.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 8pm and on Sunday from 4-8pm at the funeral home.
