Charlene Ann Bailey Leake, age 81 of Gordon County, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 6, 2024, at Gordon Health & Rehabilitation, Calhoun, GA after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. 

Ann was born on August 26, 1942, in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of the late Charles O. Bailey and the late Pauline Magdeline Bailey Pope. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Henry Wayne Leake Sr., and her only sibling, a sister, Helen Baker. 

Prior to her retirement, Ann had been employed by the Kingsville Independent School District as a secretary for thirty years. Ann was of the Baptist faith. She had been a long-time member of Retama Park Baptist Church in Kingsville, TX, and later moved her letter of membership to Antioch Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA. 

Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Those that knew her know that her grandchildren were her world. She always said that if she had known that having grandchildren would be so fun, she would have had them first.

Ann is survived by one daughter, Debbie Suzann Greeson and husband Kent of Calhoun, GA; one son, Henry Wayne Leake Jr. and wife Penny of Bishop, TX; three grandchildren, Emily Kinney of Calhoun, GA, Jennifer Leake of Bishop TX, Henry Wayne Leake III and his wife Marissa of Converse, TX; eight great-grandchildren, Elijah Daniel, Charlie Foster, Ella Madeline, Wyatt Richard, Chelsea Ann, Gabriella Nicole, Isabella Marie, and Henry Wayne IV. Ann is also survived by a bonus great-grandson, Logan Xavier, along with several special nieces and nephews whom she always kept dear in her heart. 

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. 

The family would like to extend special thanks to the employees of Affinis Hospice, Townsend Park Health &Rehabilitation, and Gordon Health & Rehabilitation for the excellent care that was provided for their loved one.
