Mrs. Charlcie Grace Connell, age 94 of the Plainville community died at 11:25 am Sunday, May 3 in Redmond Regional Medical Center of Rome.
Charlcie Grace was born in Plainville, January 27, 1915, daughter of the late Charles K. Miller and Bessie D. Miller. She was a well-known educator in Gordon County for more than 40 years and had attended Rhinehart College and the University of Georgia .She was preceded in death by her husband George B. Connell, April 25, 2005, a grandson, Brent Connell, and a brother, Dr. Starr Miller. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy and the Fellowship Baptist Church of Plainville but had been a member of the Plainville United Methodist Church sine the age of 12 and was formerly the church pianist.
Charlcie Grace is survived by two sons, Gale Lee Connell of Plainville and Greg Connell and daughter in law; June Connell both of Calhoun. 6 grandchildren, Lori Connell of Calhoun, Blain Steely of Calhoun, Christy Connell of Statesboro, Michael Connell of Plainville, Billy Hannigan of Calhoun, and Carla Lucas of Rome; seven great grandchildren; and a special friend, Evalena York of Plainville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 6 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Wayne Williams, Richard Webster, and Jerry Gaddis officiating. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 9:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers serving include Wyman Autry, Ronnie Hudson, Bill Langley, Newton Autry, Dempsey Wright, Billy Wilkey and Steve Stokes. Honorary pallbearers include Jim Franklin, Jerry Evans, Hop Langley, Tommy and Judy Howell, John Jackson, Sam Momon,Rick Bryant, Lon Bearden, Jack Miller, Herbie and Diane McManus, Spencer Padgett, Scott Wilson, Charles and Jane Prater and Lamar and Lillian York and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:45 P.M. Wednesday.
