Celestia Farris

Celestia Farris Cox, age 82, of Calhoun. Died Saturday morning August 22, 2009 at her residence following several months of declining health. Celestia was born in Gilmer County, October 30, 1926. Daughter of the late John Henry and Fannie Mae Pinson Troglin. She had spent most of her life in Gordon County and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband Frank Farris and her second husband Delmer Cox. Her son Lloyd Farris as well as two brothers and one sister also precede her. Survivors include two sons; Bill Farris of Fairmount and Ronnie Farris of Calhoun. Two daughters; Judy Lowe and her husband Buddy of Oakman and Mary Barton and her husband Billy of Resaca. Ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday August 24th at 4pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Allan Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Bill Farris, Jr., Michael Farris, Ronald Farris, Rex Lowe, Shawn Kittle, Scott Shoemaker, and Milton King. The family will receive friends Sunday after 1pm at the funeral home.
