Cecil Washington

Cecil Washington, age 76 of Calhoun, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his residence. Cecil was born on January 18, 1940 in Gordon County, son of the late Arthur and Helen Byrd Washington. He was a member of the First Corinth Christian Church and was employed for 32 years at the Calhoun First National Bank prior to his retirement. He is survived by two son; Harry and Larry Washington, three daughters; Helen Davis, April Jackson, and Lynette Clemmons, five brothers; Larry Washington, David Washington, Bryon Washington, Walter Washington, and Anthony Washington, three sisters; Janice Booth, Angela Washington, and Stella Bryant. Eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a special friend, Gene Holsomback also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday August 11th at 1pm from the First Corinth Christian Church with Rev. James D Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and his Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escorts. The church choir will have charge of the music. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 9pm at the funeral home. Mr. Washington will be taken to the church at 11:30 am Thursday to lie in state from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
