Carolyn Mims Clark Herndon, age 80 of Calhoun, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at her residence.
Mims was born on December 13, 1937 in Gordon County to the late Rev. M.L. Clark and Cleo Inez Morris Clark. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Bruce Herndon; brother, William M. “Bill” Clark; and sister, Mildred Blackwell. She was a lifetime resident of Gordon County, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where her father was a former pastor. Mims served as Worthy Matrion for the Order of the Eastern Star of Fairmount; secretary for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Calhoun Chapter VFW; and Volunteer with the local Battered Women’s Shelter were she was named Volunteer of the Year.
Mims is survived by her husband, Robert Herndon of Calhoun; daughter, Robin Dalton and her husband B.W. of Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 10th at 3 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Newton officiating. Brenda Fox will have charge of music. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving will be Michael Martin, Mike Satterfield, Benny Morrow, Jeff Morrow, Darrell Grizzle, and Dewayne Grizzle.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday an hour prior to the funeral at Thomas Funeral Home.
