Carolyn Lavon Bennett, age 72 of Calhoun, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at her residence.
Carolyn was born on June 1, 1948 in Chattooga County, GA, daughter of the late Carlton Hunter and Edna Louise Carter Hunter. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was also preceded in death by: her husband, Trammell Delane Bennett; daughter, Kristie Slaughter; brother, Ronnie Hunter. She was a member of East Calhoun Church and attended Moss Memorial Church. Carolyn loved the Lord, was a generous person, and had a heart of gold.
Carolyn is survived by: four daughters, Tamara Wells and her husband Jay of Calhoun, GA, Karen Lynn Slaughter of Calhoun, GA, Pam Tanner of Attalla, AL, and Leslie Hunt of Floyd County, GA; three brothers, Dwight Hunter, Johnny Hunter, and Robert Hunter; three sisters, Shirley Powell and her husband Ricky, Rachel Hunter, and Elaine Wyman; seven grandchildren, Brittany Slaughter, Erin Tanner, Buddy Phillips, Allison Tanner, Ashley Henson, Kaylea Henson, and Jacklyn Henson; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Taliyah Watkins, Jakaidyn Watkins, Acie, Janiyla, Brooklyne, Alijah Usher, Reidance Phillips, Kedric Johnson, Jr., Aurianah Harris, Gabriella Moore, Addlynne Hughley, Zoey Higginbottom, Zaryiah Tanner, Zalaysia Tanner, and Zakeely Tanner. She is also survived by her caregiver, Lydia “Jenny” Fuller.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Williams and Pastor Keith Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include: Bradley Bennett, Floyd Hunt, Buddy Phillips, Jay Wells, Bryant Womack, Mitchell Black, and Timmy Black.
