Mrs. Carol Warmack, 86, formerly of Fairmount, GA, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2022.
Carol was born on May 25, 1935 in Stilesboro, GA, daughter of Emmett Sanford Yancey and Georgia Brown Yancey. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by sisters Doris McAlister and Foye McAlister and brothers Henry, James, and Jerry Yancey.
After graduating from Taylorsville High School in 1952, she attended Reinhardt College where she met the love of her life, Carlton Thomas “Tom” Warmack, while working together in the campus kitchen. They married on December 10, 1955 and had three children and 50 years together before his passing on March 16, 2006. Carol was also preceded in death by son Thomas Keith Warmack on March 25, 2019.
After earning an associate degree from Reinhardt College, Carol received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Shorter College and a Master of Education from Berry College. She began her teaching career at Oakman School before taking a position in 5th grade at Fairmount School where she taught until retiring after more than 26 years. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Fairmount and attended Ebenezer Methodist Church in Cherokee County, Alabama.
Carol loved family, friends, reading, gardening, baking cakes and pies, crocheting, thrift stores, word searches, and her porch with its view of Weiss Lake. Carol was the absolute happiest when giving to others. She will be remembered by many former students for her tough love and by her family and friends for her generosity, selflessness, wit, free and typically sound advice, and love of country music.
