Carol Sloan Balliew

Carol Sloan Balliew, age 74, of Calhoun. Died Thursday December 9th at her residence. Carol was born December 19, 1935 in Gordon County. Daughter of the late Henry Grady and Trilby Nichols Sloan. She was a member of the Calhoun Community Church and prior to her retirement was an accountant at Constantine Carpets. Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Sloan and a daughter in law, Betty Balliew. Survivors include her daughter, Joan Smith and a son Jim Balliew both of Calhoun. Four grandchildren; Matt Hanrahan and his wife Stephanie of Cleveland, Tn., Jeremy Hanrahan and his wife Kristen of Ringgold, Billy Smith and his wife Niki of Gulfport, Ms., and Gary Smith also of Gulfport. Three great grandchildren; Luke, Nathan, and Sawyer Hanrahan as well as a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday December 11th at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Jerry Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4 until 7pm.
