Sunday, December 21, 2008 Carleen McEntyre, age 76, of Calhoun. Died Saturday morning December 20th at Ridgewood Manor in Dalton. Carleen was born in Gordon County August 4, 1932. Daughter of the late William and Ruby Smith Middleton. She was a member of the Calhoun Church of Christ and prior to retirement she was a agent with State Mutual Life Insurance Company and was also the former owner of the Triangle Grocery. Carleen was preceded in death by her sisters, Juanita Price and Betty Hopper and a brother, James Hugh Middleton. She is survived by one son, Phil McEntyre of Fairmount. Two daughters, Laura Thomas and Cindy McEntyre both of Calhoun. Five sisters and their husbands, Marie and Willard Sloan of Marietta, Jean and James Weaver of Cartersville, Debbie and Dan Murphy of Scottsboro, AL., Ellen and Jim Brown of Scottsboro, AL., and Judy and Cal Romans of Huntsville. Six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday December 23rd. from the Calhoun Church of Christ with Ministers Frank Mills and Scott Sides officiating. Jerry Smith will deliver the eulogy and Jon Podien will have charge of the Music. Interment will be in the Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and from 1:30 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. on Tuesday prior to moving to the Church for the services. Pallbearers serving include Kenneth Jones, Scott McEntyre, Alan and Bill Price, David Sloan and Russell Brown and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Carleen’s honor, be made to the N.W. Georgia Christian Academy, 1301 Dews Pond Rd., Calhoun, Ga.
