Mr. C.S. Jackson, age 82 of the Oakman Community died at 4:30 P.M. Saturday, December 20, 2008 following several weeks of illness.
C.S. was born, March 18, 1926 in Calhoun a son of the late Carl S. Jackson, Sr. and Aileen Dyar Jackson. He was a lifetime resident of Gordon County; was a Mason; a Veteran of World War II, US Navy; and a member of the Oakman United Methodist Church. C.S. is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bessie Whittemore Jackson of Oakman, one son; Carl S. Jackson, III of Oakman, Three daughters; Jane Davis and her husband Mike of Resaca, Sharon Shackleford and her husband Frank of Monroe, Ga. and Marion Billingsley and her husband Wayne of Kennesaw, one brother; Dr. Eddie L. Jackson of Gainesville, Ga.; and one sister; Pat Underwood of Kennesaw, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Monday December 22, 2008 from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakman United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. Monday until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers serving include Randy Reese, Lewis Shackleford, Daniel Shackleford, Scot Davis and Chris Petty and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:45 A.M. Monday. Bailiffs of the Gordon County Court will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family has requested that in addition to flowers contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Oakman United Methodist Church.
