Carl Anderson Hill

Carl Anderson Hill, born July 11, 1936 passed away on March 17, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Hill was the son of the late Charles Nathaniel Hill and Frances Louise Hill and was born in Macon, Georgia. He lost both his parents at a young age and grew up in a close knit group of five other siblings. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1959 with at degree in textile engineering, and spent his entire career in the textile and carpet industry. He enjoyed scuba diving and traveled widely to do it. He was one of Georgia Tech’s most avid football fans. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Pierson Hill; two daughters, Mandee Hill of Steinhatchee, Florida and Melanie Dixon of Rome, Georgia; three grandchildren, Chris Wampler of Cross City, Florida, Carly Wampler of Old Town, Florida, and Jessica Dixon of Atlanta, Georgia; three great grandchildren; two stepsons, Trey Moye of Birmingham, Alabama and Travis Moye of Orlando, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 20 at the First United Methodist Church of Calhoun with Enoch Overby, Walter Hill, and Dr. Brian Clark officiating. The Hill family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Tuesday at the church preceding the funeral. Marvin Beach and “Heart and Soul” will have charge of music. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers include; Chris Beach, Jeff Arwood, Paul Dill, Robert Dill, Jeff Pierson and Jonathan Pierson. Honorary Pallbearers include; Enoch Overby, Tom Pope, Ralph Horn, Charles Lloyd, Richard Arwood, Chris Wampler, Glen McKinney, Jay Goodman and Neal Lucariello. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association @ www.ALZ.org/ga or the Georgia Tech Atletic Association % Alexander-Tharpe Fund @ www.ramblinwreck.com/ot/alexander/@atfund.html. Thomas Funeral Home has charge of arrangements for the services of Carl Anderson Hill.
