Carl Bowman, Jr., age 87 of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 in Calhoun Health Care.
Carl was born on September 4, 1926 in White, GA to the late Carl H. Bowman, Sr. and Jewel Allen Bowman. He served in the United States Army for 9 ½ years, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the East Calhoun Church of God, and was formerly employed by Regent Mills and retired from Goodyear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Edens and his son, Richard Bowman.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Bowman of Calhoun; two daughters, Sherry Kirby and her husband Greg of Calhoun, and Gina Holbrook and her husband Ronnie of Calhoun; two sisters, Madeline McGrady of Calhoun, and Imojean Oliver of Talbotton, GA; two grandchildren, Jeremy Kirby and his wife Bekah of Woodstock, and Savannah Hall and her husband Eric of Calhoun; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Keith Reid and Reverend Jeremy Kirby officiating. Tim Reid will have charge of music. Burial will follow in the Erwin Hill Church of God Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include James Stansell, Johnny Stansell, Gary Lanier, Jim Ledbetter, Phillip McDaniel and Anthony Mangum.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Goodyear employees.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Thomas Funeral Home.
