Carl Edmond Blackmon

Carl Edmond Blackmon, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 in Gordon Hospital. Carl was born on November 17, 1931 in Shelbyville, TN to the late Carl Blackmon and Annie Mae Day Blackmon. In addition to his parents, Carl is also preceded in death by: his wife, Betty Walraven Blackmon; and his grandparents, Jim Day and Veller Day. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and was retired from Fafnir. Carl is survived by his two sons, Macky Blackmon and his wife Brenda, and Jimmy Blackmon and his wife Lisa; six grandchildren, Shaun Blackmon, Casey Allen, Franklin Blackmon , Madison Blackmon, Logan Blackmon, Leann Butler; four great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, July 21st at 10:30 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend David Peeler officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are: Elvin Glass, Ricky Simpson, Gregory Weaver, Richard Weaver, Jeff Sanford, Ken Walraven, Brian Walraven, and Ken Walraven. Honorary Pallbearers are: Harvey Gowens and C.L. Weaver. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
