Mr. Byron Rudolph Hefner, age 84 of Calhoun died at 9:55 PM, Saturday, July 11 at his residence. Rudolph was December 2, 1924 in Sugar Valley, a son of the late Thaddeus Edgar Hefner and Daisy Holsomback Hefner. Also, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Tom, Frank A., and Glen Hefner; five sisters, Herlene Crider, Nancy Marceniak, Doris Clements, Lois Land, Gladys Hefner and a grandson, Shane Cochran. Rudolph is survived by his wife, Sara Stephens Hefner; sons and daughters in law, Michael and Jolene Weaver Clements, Stephen and Tina Pace Clements, and John Hefner; daughters and sons in law, Kathy and Ken Dixon, Sharon and Johnny Elliott; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers, Oral (Bud) and Viola Hefner; Norman and Jean Hefner; numerous nieces and nephews Rudolph was retired from Burlington Industries after 35 years of service, and he had been employed by Gordon County for 19 years. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II; was a member of the local Renis Barrett V.F.W. Post and the Paul Gwin Post, American Legion. He was a Baptist. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 14 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Mike Blackstock and Jimmie Timms officiating. Danny Duvall and Red Howard will have charge of music, and burial will be in Gordon Memorial Gardens with the Dalton American Legion in charge of military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 9:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Active pallbearers are Mike Clements, Steve Clements, John Hefner, Johnny Elliott, Thad Hefner, and Justin Clements. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Dixon, Greg Dodd, Zack Turner, Cody Peasack, Jay Fullerton, Merle Whitener, and Bill Goforth. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 PM, Tuesday.
