Mrs. Bobbie Shirley, age 86 of Smyrna passed away on Saturday morning, November 22, 2014.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25 at the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna with Rev. Phil Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:30 P.M., Tuesday with Dr. Bert Vaughn in charge of graveside committal services.
Bobbie was born in Sugar Valley, GA. In 1954, she and her husband moved to Smyrna. Bobbie was employed at the Sears Credit Department, and later at Avon Corporation. She served as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop #426. Bobbie and her family attended Smyrna First Baptist Church for many years where she assisted in English language class. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Malone and Dan Malone; a sister, Mary Frances Malone. Bobbie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tarver Shirley; sons, William Shirley of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Michael Shirley of Powder Springs, and Timothy Shirley of Marietta; a brother, Norman Malone of Sugar Valley; grandchildren, Alex Shirley, Scott Shirley, Grant Shirley, Heather Black, Kelsey Shirley and Connor Shirley, and great grandson Oliver Dowell.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00AM until the funeral hour on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 1925 Century Blvd., Ste. 10, Atlanta, Georgia 30345-3315.
