Billy Silvers, age 84 of Calhoun, died Friday March 2nd in Gordon Hospital.
Billy was born November 15, 1927 in Gordon County. Son of the late John Henry Silvers and Vista Carver Silvers. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army and was employed by the New York and New Jersey Port Authority as an electrical engineer supervisor prior to his retirement. He was an active member of the Sonora Masonic Lodge #221 and was the last surviving member of a family of 6 brothers and 6 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Gladys Silvers. Two daughters, Laurie DeScalzo and her husband David and Hope Silvers Wilson all of Calhoun. Grandchildren, Carrie LeBlanc and her husband Glenn of Granbury, Tx., Daniel DeScalzo and his wife Jennifer of Chattanooga and Amanda DeScalzo of Calhoun. One great granddaughter, Abigail LeBlanc of Granbury,Tx. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday March 5th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Dr. Garry Tate officiating. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Sonora Masonic Lodge #221 Thursday March 8th at 2pm at Chandler Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
