Billy L. Hood

Billy L. Hood, age 79 of Ranger, GA passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Gordon Health Care. Billy was born on April 17, 1939 in Gordon County, GA to the late Jessie James Hood and Hala Ballew Hood. In addition to his parents, Billy was also preceded in death by: two brothers, Laymon Hood and JB Hood; four sisters, Zell Prather, Betty Ochsenfeld, Ruth Tucker, and Thea Austin. Billy was a member of Belmont Baptist Church, where he attended the Sportsman’s Sunday School Class, and loved to study the Bible. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, smoking his pipe, drinking coffee all day and any kind of desserts. Billy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Billy is survived by: his wife, Joyce Hood of Ranger; son, Scott Hood and his wife Cathy; daughter, Theri Barnes and her husband Johnny; and five grandchildren, Josh Barnes, Ashlyn Barnes, Erin Barnes, John Barnes, and James Hood. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 17th at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Melvin Biggs officiating. Pallbearers are: Kenneth Range, Josh Barnes, James Hood, Johnny Range, John Barnes, and the Sportsman’s Sunday School Class at Belmont Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 16th from 4 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the "Sportsman" Sunday School Class at Belmont Baptist Church.
