Billy Holbert, age 80 of Calhoun died at 11:23 AM, Monday, October 17 in Gordon Hospital. Billy was born, March 31, 1931 in Gordon County, son of the late Maynard and Maude Mason Holbert. He, also, was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Long Holbert and six brothers, Coy, Howard, Hoyt, William, Floyd and Lloyd Holbert and a sister Betty Jones. He was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and was a member of the New Town Baptist Church. Billy is survived by two daughters, Melba Weaver ( Tom Sainthill) and Debbie Pickett ( Mark Dunn ); one sister, Inez H. Hooker and her husband John T. Hooker; a special family member, Clara Silvers and a special friend Chris Painter; two grandchildren, Ryan Weaver and his wife Heidi and their children, Colt and Luke; Amanda Chance and her husband Ron and their daughter, Jocelyn. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 19 at the New Town Baptist Church with the Reverends Jimmie Timms and Walter Hare officiating. Burial will be in Haven of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverend Barry Brock officiating. Musicians are, Pat and Chuck Brock, Marissa Johnson, Robert Hayes and Richard Pullum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and from 9:00 until 10:00 AM Wednesday. The body of Mr. Holbert will lie in state from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church preceding the funeral. Active pallbearers are Ryan Weaver, Ron Chance, Doug Ralston, James Lee Steele, Ro Holbert, John D. Hooker, Colt Weaver, Larry Goble, and Trey Goble. They are asked to meet at the church at 9:45 AM Wednesday. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Long, Hershel Sexton, Gary Holbert, Marvin McBee, Greg Weaver, and Roy Pierce. They are asked to meet at the church at 10:45 AM Wednesday. Thomas Funeral Home has charge of arrangements for the services of Billy Holbert, age 80 of Calhoun.
