Betty L. Weaver Greene

Friday, January 29, 2010 Mrs. Betty L. Weaver Greene, age 68, of Calhoun. Died Friday January 29th at her home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Gordon County January 5, 1942. Daughter of the late Lloyd Willard and Irene Heath Weaver. After graduating from Dalton High School in 1960 she married her high school sweetheart the following summer. For much of her life she was a stay at home housewife and mother. After her children grew a little older, she worked for the Gordon County Board of Education at the Red Bud School for a number of years. She was a woman of deep abiding faith said her children – Mom never met a stranger and her love touch not only her family and friends, but all those who knew her and some she never met. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tony Greene of Calhoun. Her six children; Alan Greene of Calhoun, Sharon Daria and her husband Tony of Hebron, Ky., Susan Daniel and her husband Reese of Gainesville, Gary Greene of Calhoun, Renae Petty and husband Aaron of Fairmount, and Joy Kay and her husband Michael of Knoxville, Tn.. Eight grandchildren; Christy, Sommer and Stone of Gainesville, Katie and Stephanie of Hebron, Ky, and Morgan, Marshall and Connor of Knoxville. Her sisters, Roxie Taylor of Riverdale and Debra Burchett of Calhoun. Her brother, Doug Weaver and his wife Susan of Kentucky. Several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 11am Tuesday February 2nd from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.Music will be arranged by Tom Petty. Pallbearers serving include; Mike Railey, Mike Rucker, Josh Fountain, Tom Petty, Richard Weaver, and Tony Mullinax. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 4 until 7pm at the funeral home.
