Betty Joyce Shepherd

Wednesday, December 05, 2007 Mrs. Betty Parker Shepherd, age 76 of 231 Hunt Rd. N.W., Calhoun, died Tuesday evening at her residence. Betty was born in Haralson County, Ga. on July 29, 1931 daughter of the late William and Eva Brookshire Parker but, had spent most of her life in Gordon County. She was a member of the College St. Church of God and was retired from the carpet manufacturing industry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Claude Shepherd on Nov. 27, 1988 along with five brothers and sisters; Mae, Evelyn, Ezam, Melvin and Oliver. Survivors include;three daughters and sons-in-law; Barbara and Rev. Calvin Woodring of Elkton , Md., Joy and Ken Harrell of Calhoun, and Melody and Darryl Jackson also of Calhoun; three sons; Kenneth Shepherd of Rome, James Templin and his wife Nancy of Calhoun and Phillip Shepherd and his wife Jill of Rome 12 Grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday Dec. 7th from the College Street Church of God with Rev. Donald Lee officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The body will lie instate at the church from 11:00 until noon on Friday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening.
