Betty Louise Henson Howell, age 75, of Ranger, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 in Gordon Hospital following months of declining health.
Betty was born on February 23, 1942 in Calhoun to the late Hubert and Bonnie Cook Henson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Henson and Jack Henson. She was a member of the Oakman United Methodist Church and the Hwy 411 Band.
Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wayne Howell of Ranger with whom they shared a love for their family and bluegrass music, he played guitar and she was a self-taught bass player; daughters, Marica Johnson and her husband Steven of Ranger, Amanda Todd and her husband David of Calhoun; Four grandchildren, Anthony Johnson and his wife Courtney, Stacy Grantham and her husband Zack of Ranger, Eli Todd and Luke Todd both of Calhoun; five great-grandchildren, Cayden Grantham, Carson Grantham, Callie Grantham, Alex Johnson and Nathan Johnson all of Ranger; five sisters, Loretta Poarch, Mozelle Sexton, Vickie Lambert all of Calhoun, Shirley Cross of Chickamauga and Deborah Edwards of Cartersville; one brother, Eddie Henson of Varnell.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 2:30 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Brother Gary Quarles and Reverend Genivieve DeHoog officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakman Ranger United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
