Betty Holland

Betty Louise Holland, age 80 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at her daughter's residence. Betty was born July 22, 1931 in Gordon County. She was the daughter of the late Levi Luther and Nora Bell Moore Barnette. Betty was a member of Riverview Baptist Church and was known for her story telling as well as her singing. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Gordon Holland and a brother, Gilbert Barnette. Survivors include; Two daughters; Sharon Grogan and Rachel Freeman both of Calhoun. Grandchildren; Brian Grogan, David Grogan, Holli Jaime, Candi Baker, Joshua Freeman and April Childers. Seventeen Great-Grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:30p.m. Friday, September 23rd at the Oostanaula Baptist Church with Preacher Joshua Freeman, and Speaker Brian Grogan officiating. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens with Rev. Michael Hunt in charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers include; Drew Childers, Blake Childers, Caleb Freeman, Matthew Grogan, Jacob Grogan, Dakota Grogan, Aspen Grogan, Alaska Grogan, Nebraska Grogan and Josh Baker. Honorary Pallbearers include; Larry Barnette, Shane Barnette, Greg Barnette, Joey Revels, Alan Starkey, Kenneth Starkey, Daryl Sutherland and Daneward Sutherland. Betty Louise Holland will lie in state from 2:30 - 3:30p.m. Friday, September 23rd at Oostanaula Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 9:00p.m. Thursday, September 22nd at Thomas Funeral Home.
