Betty Sue Herndon, age 74, of Ranger, passed away at her residence Tuesday February 5th.
Betty was born December 8, 1938 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Will Craig and Zena Puckett Craig; she was a member of the New Hope Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband C.W. Herndon, a grandson, Alex Putnam, her brothers, James and Bill Craig, and a sister, Hannah Nix.
Survivors include three sons; Rex Herndon and his wife Ashton, Mark Herndon and his wife Angie, and Steve Herndon and Dena Ford. One daughter, Joyce Stennett and her husband Tim. Two brothers; Gordon Craig and Henry Craig. Five grandchildren; Katelyn Herndon, Adam Putnam, Nathanael Freeman, Olivia Freeman and Chloe Freeman, five great grandchildren; Kinsley Lovins, Zeinith Putnam, Damion Putnam, and Xander Putnam all of Gordon County.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday February 7th at 2pm from the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. David Temples officiating music will be arranged by Donald Hopper. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Keith Herndon, E.C. Kelly, Ronnie Herndon, Dean Herndon, Dwight Craig and Wayne Nix, Jr. serving as Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 9pm and on Thursday until 12:30 at which time Betty will be taken to the church to lie in state from 1pm until the funeral hour.
