Betty Champion, age 85 of Calhoun, passed away on December 26, 2012 in Gordon Hospital.
Betty was born on March 19, 1927 in Gordon County. She was the daughter of the late James A. Fuller and Rhett Coffee Fuller. Betty was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church and a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She loved to travel and traveled frequently with the senior group of Calhoun First Baptist Church and also with the Georgia Bank and Trust Gadabouts for a number of years. She resided at Morning Pointe for the past two years and enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends at Arby’s. She also served on the Board of the Northwest Georgia Fair Association for many years and worked in the arts and crafts department. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Thomas Henry Champion; two sisters: Virginia Fuller and Dorena Fuller Taylor; sister and brother-in-law, Lou Jean and Jim Champion.
Survivors include: her daughter, Nancy Nichols and her husband Jerry; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lillie Mae Hall and Lee Hall; two grandchildren: Brian and his wife Tanya Nichols and Keith and Dana Nichols. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00pm on Friday, December 28th from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include: Dale Hall, Keith Nichols, Brian Nichols, Sam Harwell, Derick Dickard and Bud Owens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Ruth Sunday School Class of Calhoun First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until the funeral hour on Friday, December 28th at the funeral home.
