Betty Walraven Blackmon

Mrs. Betty Walraven Blackmon, age 79 of Ranger, passed away Tuesday morning March 12, 2013 at Gordon Health Care. Betty was born May 13, 1933 in Gordon County. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Aveline Knight Walraven. She was employed by Fafnir Bearing and Echota Cotton Mills prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Walraven. Survivors include: her husband, Carl Blackmon of Ranger; two sons, Macky Blackmon and his wife Brenda of Calhoun and Jimmy Blackmon and his wife Lisa of Clarksville, TN; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 15th at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Winford Casey and the Reverend Barry Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include: Elvin Glass, Richard Weaver, Tom Sainthill, Ricky Simpson, Jeff Sanford, Freddy Faith, Kenneth Walraven and Brian Walraven. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Pleasant Hill Ladies Adult Sunday School Class, Frank Campbell, C.L. Weaver and Johnny Mack Thompson. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14th from 5 until 8pm at the funeral home.
