Tuesday, March 30, 2010 Mrs. Betty J. Balliew age 58 of Calhoun, died Sunday evening at her residence following an extended illness. Betty was born in Ooglethorpe County, Ga. on Nov. 18, 1951 daughter of the late Cecil Audell Antwine Sr. and Ruby Jewel Lucas Antwine. She had been a resident of Calhoun since 1971 and was a member of the Word of Life Church. Prior to ill health she had been employed by Calhoun OB-Gyn as practice manager. Survivors include her husband Jim Balliew of Calhoun, two sons and daughters-in –law; Matt and Stephanie Hanrahan of Cleveland , Tn. and Jeremy and Kristen Hanrahan of Ringgold, Ga. three brothers; Cecil Antwine, Jr. of Toccoa, Ga. and Ray and Jimmy Antwine both of Athens, Ga., five sisters; Madelene Andrews of Nevada, Barbara Jones of Rome, Mary McComb of Augusta, Lynn Spell of Hazelhurst, Ga. and Avelene Mahan of Laurel, Md. two grandchildren; Luke and Nathan Hanrahan along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 31st. from the East Calhoun Church of God with Rev. Harold Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Jason Barton, Jason Sloan, Alan Parker, Billy Hannigan, Tom Morrison, and Troy Frantzen. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Betty Balliew Memorial Fund % Georgia Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 12050, Calhoun, Georgia, 30703 The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Thomas Funeral Home. You may express condolences at WWW.thomasfuneralhomecalhoun.com.
