Betty Jo Arrowood

Betty Jo Arrowood, age 80, of Calhoun. Died Monday afternoon April 25th at her residence. Betty Jo was born March 14, 1931 in Shelby, NC.. Daughter of the late Lewis and Ruth Allen . She was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church, the church choir and the Mattie Lou Strain Sunday School Class. She was a avid bowler who loved to sing and had cut a number of records over the years. Prior to her retirement she was a seamstress with Champion Garment Company. Betty Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Toy Arrowood, a daughter, Patricia Frix, her sister, Gertrude Jackson and a granddaughter, Brady Green Gonzales. Survivors include one daughter, Debra Sides of Calhoun. Two granddaughters; Melanie Ingram and Heather Underhill. Three great-grandchildren; Tristen Underhill, Justin Underhill and Noah Gonzales. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday April 28th at 3pm from the Calhoun First Baptist Church. With Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Cemetery. Music will be arranged by Lonnie and Jane Daniel. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 8pm and on Thursday Mrs. Arrowood will be taken to the church at 1:45 to lie in state from 2 until the funeral hour.
